Review Goals

See LMS goals opn the FrontPage.

  • Want to assist people in developing competencies NOT creating hurdles and barriers to hiring. This is to enable people who want to move into management. Keep this philosophy - what compentencies and how we TEACH them (not have them).
  • Need a bare list to start before a program. the list becomes the spring board for helping people to achieve/assess readiness
  • like when doing a strategic plan - work with it NOT in a vacuum.
  • term 'competencies' vs Attributes of leaders.
  • what are we training leaders for? (don't get bogged down in the details!) see - New Zealand Resource.
  • what are people requiring (look at jobs)?
  • Perhaps start broad

Establish to-do list and timeline

List of competencies:

  • Communication Skills
  • Financial management/budgeting
  • Personnel & Conflict management (delegating, prof dev/mentoring, HR - recruit and retain)
  • decision making
  • managing/affecting change
  • Values and Organizational commitment (position within institution, networking within institution)
  • Customer services

Have levels so people know where they stand and where they need to go.

Example of pulling it together : program development, visionary.

Go out and see what is out there in these areas. Keep flexibility and expand these competencies.
